RECENT EVENTS & MEETING REVIEW
22nd of July -- District Governor Visit
Rotarians never stand alone, and what encouragement to have Jesse Tam, his wife Lilly, and the Assistant District Governor, Mike Painter with us this 22nd of July. The message was being real, letting folks know this, and making a difference by making dreams real.
July 15th - Rotary First Harvest
David Boborank, Director of Rotar First Harvest Speaks
Rotary First Harvest went from our Saturday, 11 July morning work party of beans and chocolate to a discussion on 15 July with the Director. This community service of food collection and distribution works closely with Northwest Harvest here in Kent, yet also with a group up in Snohomish and another in Spokane. If we suspected every Rotary District has a First Harvest, not true at all. This is a nationally recognized project right from home grown King County.
Breakfast with Al -- Fire Chief
01 July, 2008 Leadership Thoughts
Rotary learns from the local fire chief, Al Church. TEAM spelled out has a meaning of "Together Every Aim Met" gives a sense of the power of working together. As Vic Pennington heads up the training division of South King Fire and Rescue, Al Church commented on Pennington's quick response for a recent emergency in Des Moines. The quick response to a car plunging into the water provided coordination of several agencies to minimize loss of life.
Federal Way Sunrise welcomes Vic Pennington as he comes from the Des Moines Rotary. Al Church pledged continued support as we at Federal Way Sunrise look for continued ways of "Making Dreams Real".
